About Camp Akita
Camp Akita is owned and operated by the
Illinois Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
We welcome applications from all boys and girls
ages 7-17 without regard to race, religion or
political view. Camp Akita strives to operate in
a professional way and is held accountable in this goal through its membership
in the Association of Adventist Camp Professionals (AACP), Christian
Camp & Conference Association (CCCA), and its accreditation by the
American Camping Association (ACA). Camp Akita is located outside
Gilson, Illinois. Camp Akita is a provider of equal opportunity recreation
services.
Camp Akita's Goals
- To provide fun filled, challenging recreational opportunities
for children and youth in a positive Christian environment.
- To strive for a “safety-first” environment where risk is
minimized.
- To encourage healthy and accepting relationships with others.
- To encourage and invite campers to make positive choices
about lifestyles and their future through presenting them with
character-building lessons and entoring them in making
positive choices.
