CAMP RANGER APPOINTED: On July 1, Tim Pittenger joined Camp Akita as Camp Ranger. Pittenger is not a newcomer to Akita, as he and his
family have lived in the Peoria area for many years. Prior to his employment at Camp Akita, Pittenger owned his own pallet and crate business in Peoria, Illinois,
which was sold a year ago. Pittenger grew up in a family construction business, New Horizon Construction Associates. His wife is Heather and the couple have a young son, Jacob.
Pittenger hit the ground running. "It is my goal to not only see that Camp Akita is well-maintained," states Pittenger, "but also the friendliest place in Illinois."
CAMP AKITA RECEIVES ACCREDITATION from the American Camp Association. What does that mean to you? The American Camp Association:
- Educates camp owners and directors in the administration of key aspects of camp operation, program quality, and the health and safety of campers and staff.
- Establishes guidelines for needed policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assists the public in selecting camps that meet industry-accepted and government-recognized standards.
- ACA's Find-A-Camp Database provides the public with many ways to find the ideal ACA-accredited camp.
